    Description

This 8" x 10" photograph was retired from a local library collection. It was part of the "75th Anniversary of Naval Aviation" collection. The Anniversary was in 1986. It will be shipped along with the cardboard mat to help protect it during shipping. (The mat is of no value).
The label on the back reads as follows:
"1. At the controls of the Navy's first aircraft, the A-1 Triad, Lt. T.G. Ellyson prepares to take Capt. W.I. Chambers, USN, aloft during flights at Hammondsport, N.Y., in 1911. The A-1 Triad was one of the first two aircraft ordered by the Navy and the only amphibious version.
