Chulucanas pottery Santa Clause folk art figurine from Peru. This traditional "gordita" style Santa Clause is wearing a red /white Santa suit with hat, carting a brown basket and brown bell.The beautiful subtle and rich colors on this piece are created using techniques that trace back to the indigenous Vicus culture and the pre-Incan Tallán people. Each piece is formed entirely by hand, using wooden paddles and stones to form and smooth the clay. Pieces are smoke fired multiple times to create the rich colors. This particular piece is was made and signed by Segundo Sosa.
