Description
HERE'S A SOMEWHAT RARE FIND. This is Scotch 111A gray box "pro recording tape", probably the longest running manufactured tape in the history of recording. This tape was manufactured from approximately 1950, the first plastic based tape made in the US. It was made and used, both by pros and home recordists for at least sixty years. This example is in very good original condition. Box is "decent".Scotch logo gray plastic NAB reel, one of the first is in very good shape, not warped, cracked etc.. The tape is still very pliable and usable. Acetate tape tends to get brittle with age and also likes to curl. This tape suffers neither. Although it is still quite usable, it is being sold as a historic collectible. Tape is in usable condition, but is 70 years old. Note the back of the box has writing, and is dated 1954.NOTE: We also have another Scotch 111 A Gray box,on early NAB alunminum six spoke reel. And another red oxide Audiotape model 2551 R(R for NAB Reel/Hub) We have other tools/toys pixed at this auction, vintage tape, Also Scotch 111 A brown box early 6 spoke 8mm film reel and 1st Scotch 3 spoke logo/script reel.
